The MSA are grateful for the great feedback we have received from lots of people following last Friday’s Race Night.
In the words from our own village wordsmith ……….
“It was a galloping success. When it came to the betting nobody was horsing around. The m(a)ne event was the racing and the placing of bets. Friday night saw the village hall absolutely packed; and all in a good cause. It was the Mursley Sports Association fund raising event and what an event it was too. Nine races were ran all with the aid of a lap top and local personalities dressed as jockeys, touts and the press. The props injected a realism to the proceedings. Were it not for the lack of scouse accents I would have thought that I was at Aintree. As for studying the form of the runners and riders most folk appeared to be also studying the form of the Green Man’s ale and wine. One should not encourage gambling mind but this was all in a good cause as the MSA sought funds for their new sports field. Folk were indeed enjoying a flutter but as far as I was concerned lady luck was on holiday. My horses appeared to still have a milk float attached! By half past eight the race goers were ravenous and when the fish and chips arrived they were received with real gusto. Produced by a local company individual portions were boxed and distributed with the appropriate condiments with an efficiency that would make McDonald’s blush. The entire evening was brilliantly put together and a real credit to the organisers and the MSA in general. The village is really blessed by having the Mursley Sports Association and those volunteers who work so hard to make it a real jewel in the village crown. Founded in 1968 its mission is helping the children and the residents of Mursley find their place on our playgrounds. I’m delighted to report that further to Friday night’s outstanding race night they now have an extra £1429.09 with which to do this”.
